Joel Plueckhahn

Board Director

Joel Plueckhahn is a senior Safety, Risk, Governance and Crisis Management professional with more than 15 years’ experience across aviation, maritime and critical infrastructure. He brings expertise in risk management, assurance, resilience and supporting organisations through complex and challenging environments.

Joel’s connection to childhood cancer is deeply personal. As the parent of a child who recently battled high-risk neuroblastoma and is now recovering from treatment, he brings firsthand understanding of the emotional, practical and systemic challenges faced by children and families throughout their cancer journey.

Joel has experience advocating for children with cancer through engagement with government, research programs and international clinical trial networks, including navigating complex healthcare systems in both Australia and the United States. He has a keen interest in the mental health and wellbeing of families impacted by the trauma of childhood cancer, and the importance of providing ongoing support beyond treatment.

Joel’s combination of professional expertise, lived experience and advocacy provides a unique perspective to the Children’s Cancer Foundation Board, helping champion stronger support, better outcomes and improved experiences for children and their families.

Help children survive and thrive.
